The Duo
Feb-Dec 2022
Prior to Graysin and Kayulah ever meeting Graysin had visited New Orleans where he was walking the streets and ended up at Mary Laveau's House of Voodoo. While he was there a woman gave him an unsolicited prophecy. She told him he would meet a bass player named Kayla Armstrong. Thinking nothing of it Graysin continued his journey through the South until he met a girl named Kayulah. The only problem was that she did not have the correct last name and did not play the bass. So Graysin kept the story to himself and went about his time with his new love.
One night before leaving for his tour Kayulah decided to write her name on Graysin's arm. Graysin stared at it and said to himself, "Kayulah on my arm." Then he flexed and said,
"strong." He still just laughed to himself and went about his time with his new girl trying not to get too caught up in this prophecy. He felt everything was still a coincidence and he was stretching to fit reality into what the seer told him.
Another night while spending time with an old friend Kayulah picked up one of her friend's guitars and tried to play it. She said she had tried to learn before but it was hard to make the chords. Her friend asked if she had ever tried to play the bass which she really didn't even know what that was to answer yes or no. So obviously it was a no. But conveniently Graysin had brought his bass with him on the road to continue to make tracks on his laptop. It was also right handed. He played it upside down. So he handed Kayulah the bass and was able to teach her a song almost immediately. She was a natural.
When Graysin returned from his Texas tour he asked Kayulah if she would like to play a show in Chattanooga and Newport, TN. Kayulah agreed and played the two songs she learned in a week. The prophecy was fulfilled. Two songs became four and four became eight and so on until it was the Graysin and Kayulah show. Success and profit began to grow and Graysin was lifted above the poverty line. At the end of 2021 Kayulah officially quit her day job and became a professional musician. But there was so much more to accomplish.
